The book I am reading, “go ask Alice” is based on the actual diary of a fifteen-year-old drug user. When Alice visited her grandparents in the town she use to live in Jill, a girl she barely knows invites her to a party. Alice gets excited and happy that she is invited. At the party they all play a game “button, button” and if you’re lucky you get a cola with trays of LCD. Alice gets one of these drinks and sees things that are not real.
The next morning Alice asks Jill what happened to her and Jill says that there was LCD in her drink. Alice promised herself that she is never going to try drugs again. She also admits that last night was fun.
Alice continues to go to parties and then she tries different types of drugs. She also meets a new boy called Chris. One day Chris calls Alice and wants her to come over to him. When she gets over to him, she feels a beautiful smell. Alice calls her grandmother and says that Chris needs a friend and they smoke and talk for a long time. Alice gets deeper involved with drugs. Eventually Chris and Alice ran away to Los Angeles together. There they got an apartment and jobs. When they came back, Alice promised to quit drugs, but the temptation was too big. Alice ran away one more time. This time when she got back she knew she had to quit drugs. She managed to quit drugs for a while.
Alice started a new and better life. She went back to school and got top grades. Her old gang hated her for quitting drugs and they had one goal with her; to get her starting again.
Alice’s true nightmare began when she was baby-sitting. She had been clean a long time, but someone from her previous gang had put some drugs in her chocolate shake. Alice started to hallucinate and she saw unreal things. It got so bad that she saw worms crawling on her and she scratched her skin.
The next morning she woke up at the hospital. Some of her nails were broken and her skin was bloody. At the hospital she still felt the worms crawling on her. After a while she was placed on a mental hospital.
When she got out she appreciated every little thing, her bed, her room and to just be with her family again. She was very depressed for a long time. After she got home from the mental hospital, her life turned up side down. She was grateful for her family, but she had been through hell the last couple of months. It all ended after three months. She took an overdos
